WHAT IS LIFECOACHING?

The term "Lifecoaching" refers to a form of personal work which takes a client from a place of feeling "stuck" in their lives to a place of resonant choice. This work usually focuses on the present, and dwells little in a client's past, which makes coaching quite different from therapy.
I was certified through Coaches Training Institute, an international school which specializes in the co-active coaching method.

There are several basic cornerstones of Co-Active Lifecoaching:

1. The Client is Naturally Creative, Resourceful and Whole
This means as a coach I do not try to "fix" you, or advise you. My job is to ask questions to bring you to the point of knowing what you want and how to get it.
2. The Coach Works With the Client's Whole Life
You may come to me with a specific issue, but most of the time the conflict you may feel inside will be based on many things happening in your life, so we examine your full life together.
3. The Agenda Comes From the Client
It is always the client's session, and always the client's choice as to where the session heads.
4. The Coach Dances in the Moment
My job is to ebb and flow with your process. You may come to a session quite clear on a topic one week, and very vague the next. As a coach I ask the questions which bring you clarity about what is happening inside, and go with you to explore what you choose to bring to the session.

WHAT ARE THINGS PEOPLE GO TO COACHING FOR?

My speciality is in weight management, but I work with a variety of people and issues affecting their lives.

I am a person who has had many different careers, so love working with people looking to change careers, or create a business.
I work with people confused about how to make change in their lives, whether it be moving, leaving or strengthening a relationship, or other life upheavals.
I also work with grief and loss, helping people rediscover themselves.

WHICH IS RIGHT FOR YOU: A COACH OR A THERAPIST?

If you feel in a place of comfort and resolve in your past: you no longer harbor extreme anger or resentment regarding your upbringing, or the like, but you find yourself desiring positive change in your life, and seem unable to manifest it, a lifecoach is ideal for you.

If you feel anger, and extreme emotion when dwelling on your past, and do not seem to be able to move past these feelings, or are emotionally unsettled in your everyday life, then a therapist might be a wiser choice. Some people use a therapist to deal with their emotional struggles and a coach to move forward on plans and dreams.
